Announcement

The Urbanrace team have been advised of a date change to the Brighton Triathlon 2009 which would move the race date to late October. This is due to other event dates on the site moving and cycle-path roadworks. After considering the safety implications we feel this is too late in the season to put athletes into a sea-based open water environment. As a result we unfortunately have to cancel the Brighton Triathlon for 2009.

We have processed full refunds to all athletes who entered.

The Brighton Triathlon is an open water sea swimming event which is based at Madeira Drive on Brighton seafront. The event comprises a Novice, Sprint, Olympic and Relay triathlon.

The course layout out at Brighton provides the perfect spectating opportunity for your friends and family and Brighton has an enormous amount to offer if you feel like making a weekend of it.

Brighton Triathlon Swim Exit

Swim

The swim takes place in the sea off Brighton Seafront in front of Madeira Drive. The swim course will be 2 laps for Olympic distance and 1 lap for both Sprint and Novice events. The race is wetsuit compulsory. If you need to hire a wetsuit CLICK HERE for a wetsuit hire option.

Good news Folks! The earliest start time will be 10am and the final wave will start around 3.30pm.

IMPORTANT: This event is a SEA SWIM so you need to be realistic with the event distance you choose. Open water sea swimming can mean variable and tough conditions and you must be proficient for the distance entered. Extremely slow swimmers will be pulled out of the water by safety crew. We recommend you should be able to swim at least twice the distance quickly in a swimming pool. We recommend you have some experience of sea swimming before race day and you should never train on your own in open water.

Please CLICK HERE for a map of the swim course.

Brighton Triathlon Cycling

Bike

The bike course is on closed roads and will be a series of laps on a fast tarmac course capable of really fast bike times. The Olympic distance is 8 laps, Sprint distance is 4 laps and the novice distance is 2 laps.
