If for any reason I cannot take part in an event can I have a refund?
We start to incur costs
from the moment you enter one of our races. For example
it costs us a minimum of £2.50 to just collect an entry
fee securely online. It may be possible to obtain some reimbursement
although you must refer to our refunds
policy as the refund is staged depending on the length of
time before the event. Directly before an event your entry fee
has already been spent or committed to suppliers. If a flexible
refund/transfer system was put into place for those who decide
not to do an event at the last minute then the event would collapse
financially.

If I cannot have a refund, can I give my race entry to someone else?
Unfortunately not. This
can cause huge problems if entries are changed around. We must
have accurate information on everyone who is competing in the
race, otherwise there will be a knock-on effect in the race, prize
giving, results etc. Most importantly this could invalidate any
insurance which is in place to protect you.

Can I transfer my race entry to next year or another race?
Unfortunately not. If we did this it would effectively be a free entry and soon put us out of business. Almost all the money we receive for an event is invested into the event. If you had a ticket for a concert or a football match would you ask for a transfer to another gig or match if you couldnt go. No you wouldnt. It's the same principle for us as the cost of organising events is very expensive we cannot afford to transfer entries if people decide not to race; for whatever reason. If you cannot race or decide not to race please check our refund policy but please be aware that if we are close to the race your entry fee has already been committed to the event and a refund cannot be given.

How do I enter a race?
You can enter our races in two different
ways. You can use our online
entry system, which will securely take your debit/credit card
number over the Internet. Alternatively you can print off a PDF
entry form and send that into us with your payment.

How do I know if I am entered in the race?
If you enter online you will receive a confirmation by email. The start list will also appear on the urbanrace website. The start list will enable you to check your entry if you have sent it by post although this could take up to 14 days. Cashing your cheque will also be confirmation you are in the race.

Do I have to be a member
of British Triathlon to take part in a triathlon?
You do not have to be
a full member although we recommend you consider the benefits
of joining. If you are not a member you must obtain a one-day
race licence at registration. You must bring some form of ID with
you. Your £5 day licence fee will be collected within the
race entry fee. You should familiarise yourself with British Triathlon
rules and regulations or you may be penalised during the race
for breaking a rule. Ignorance is no defence! See the British
Triathlon website for more information on rules and membership.
The British Triathlon telephone number is 01509 226161.

Do I need a bike helmet
to participate in a triathlon?
Yes. You must use an
approved cycling safety helmet of ANSI Z90.4, SNELL B90, EN 1078
or an equivalent national standard. NOTE: A CE mark is NOT an
approved mark. It is your responsibility to make sure all your
equipment and gear is suitably serviced and in a good condition.

When will I receive my race numbers?
You must collect your race numbers at the race registration. Details of when and where to register will be contained in the race instructions.

When will I receive my race instructions?
You will normally receive
race instructions around 7 to 10 days before race day via email.
Always read the instructions fully and have them with you on race
day, as they will contain important notes including safety matters.

Can my friend/husband/wife/mum/dad/etc come into the transition area with me?
Only competitors with the correct race id will be allowed into transition. For safety reasons neither press nor spectators will be allowed in to transition.

When do I get my race day results?
The urbanrace team will release provisional results soon after the event finishes. The full results will also be posted on the website as soon as possible after the event.

How do I volunteer to join the urbanrace team?
You can find more information about becoming a marshal at our events by visiting our team web page or by contacting us at info@urbanrace.co.uk.

I have a medical condition and I am unsure how this could react when taking part in your event. Can I still participate?
Possibly. However before you enter you must consult your general practitioner about your intention to do such an event. The GP will advise you how to proceed.

Do I need to display
my race numbers during the race?
Yes. You will be penalised
by the race officals if you do not. It is important for identification
and your results. Make yourself aware of the British Triathlon
rules to avoid receiving a penalty or disqualification during
the event.

Do I need a certain
type of bike to compete in a triathlon?
Your bike needs to conform
to British Triathlon rules but most standard racing bikes or mountain
bikes are acceptable. A racing bike however will be an easier
choice for races on the public highway. It
is your responsibility to use a bike that is in a roadworthy condition.
We therefore recommend any bike you use has been thoroughly checked
and serviced by a qualified bicycle mechanic before you take part
in the event. We do not check your equipment.
