Sussex Triathlon Swimmer

Swim

The swim takes place in the pool at Ardingly college and will be 20 lengths for the sprint distance and 10 lengths for the novice wave. Competitors will be four to a lane with others of a similar estimated swim time. The excitement starts at 7am and the slowest swimmers will enter the water first. Please be as accurate as possible with your swim time as this will grade you correctly. We do not change swim start times following publication of the race instructions for safety reasons.

Bike

The bike course takes you in a loop around the countryside of Sussex going North via Ardingly and Worth Abbey then returning through Balcombe. At times the course can be fast while it does have a couple of challenging hills to climb. For safety reasons we have kept the bike course distance the same for both the sprint and novice races.

Click here to view a course map of the bike section.

Run

The run takes place around the Ardingly College sports field and will be four laps for those competing in the sprint race while novices will have to do just two laps. Athletes will collect bands at the start of each lap to assist them in counting laps.

TriStars Go Free! We are adding a TriStar aquathlon race which will be completely free to enter. Please CLICK HERE for details. THE TRI STAR RACE IS NOW SOLD OUT FOR 2009.

Charity

NEW FOR 2009!

The Sussex Triathlon will support our official race charity ST PETER & ST JAMES HOSPICE (Registered Charity No: 1056114).

Athletes have the option to add a donation to their 2008 race entry fee which will go directly to the St Peter & St James Hospice in Sussex.

About St Peter & St James

Their mission as a registered charity is to provide specialist care, love and support for people living with progressive, life limiting illnesses who are from East and West Sussex.

They care for patients from Burgess HIll, Haywards Heath, Lewes, Uckfield and the surrounding villages. Last year they provided care for more than 400 patients and their families. All of the hospice services are free of charge and they receive just 15% of their funding from the government. They have to raise more than £1.3 million every year through fundraising. That is £3,600 every day.

CLICK HERE for the charity website. You can also find out more about the work of the hospice and fundraising by telephoning 01444 471598 or by email.

Many thanks to all donations by athletes at the 2008 Sussex Triathlon as we raised over £1,000 for Sightsavers Intl.
